The Society of the Sacred Heart runs Duchesne House, a nursing home for nuns.
The two central heating boilers for Duchesne House needed to be upgraded and replaced because one was no longer safe to use and it was not economical to repair the other. The Society also wanted to upgrade the plant room that housed the boilers.
To replace the boilers and upgrade the plant room we supplied and installed two new boilers, one flue and two shunt pumps. We modified the pipework and the heating controls and installed new mechanical ventilation. Finally, we installed new lighting and refurbished the plant room.
The vulnerable nature of the residents meant heating was required 24/7/365. This meant we needed to arrange temporary measures to heat the building while the work to replace the boilers was taking place.
Our work has ensured Duchesne House has a modern heating system that delivers reliable, efficient heating round the clock, ensuring the comfort of residents for years to come.
“In requiring a full upgrade and renovation of our central heating boilers in our plant room, JDS quoted and planned the task. The operation from start to completion was planned, undertaken and documented very professionally by Mark Brewster and his team at JDS.
As Duchesne House is a working care-home, we had some operational considerations and restraints that JDS management took on-board, while also making certain that all their staff and contractors were in inducted on these site restraints. The whole operation concluded with the minimum of disruption or service downtime.
Our new central heating system was installed and commissioned, and is now fully operational, all the work has been carried out and delivered in the timeframe agreed, and with some final minor additions like wall and floor painting, brought our plant room in to the 21st century.
Thank you JDS.”
